PURE INTO NATURE

LAG Rural Wealth:  PURE INTO NATURE

While the discharge and treatment of municipal wastewater in larger settlements and cities is regulated by public sewerage and municipal treatment plants, the situation in smaller settlements and villages, especially in remote rural and hilly areas with dispersed construction, is different. There are no sewage systems in these areas, as they represent an economic unwarranted need to build such a system. Therefore, wastewater discharge is regulated by flow-through septic tanks with an outlet directly into nature. Such wastewater discharge is inappropriate in all respects, as inadequately purified water is discharged into nature, thus excessively burdening the environment. In order for the discharge to be environmentally appropriate, there is no biological treatment stage before the water is discharged into nature. The solution is offered by small municipal treatment plants, which are available in various shapes and types. Plant-based treatment plants (PWTPs) completely imitate natural processes in their operation and thus represent a sustainable and environmentally friendly method of treating municipal wastewater. Unfortunately, people still have a negative opinion about this type of purification device. There is a lack of confidence in the fact that a device can perform its task without using electricity, and at the same time there is a fear of developing an unpleasant odor or stench in the immediate vicinity of the living environment.

With this project, we want to eliminate all these concerns among people and, for this purpose, build a small RČN with a capacity of 5 PE for one household, which, in addition to performing its primary function, will also serve to promote such sustainable devices and on which educational activities will also be carried out.

LEA Spodnje Podravje will participate in the project as a lead partner and Secondary School Center Ptuj as a project partner. The project is applying for measure U6: Adaptation to climate change and strengthening innovative approaches in the field of natural resource management.

The total estimated value of the Clean to Nature operation is EUR 20,753.39 including VAT, and the total value of the requested funds is EUR 13,356.67.
