Technical Day – RES and URE

What Janezek learns, Janeze knows. Education is an important investment that can save society from many negative consequences of unpredictable economic conditions.

We have therefore decided to offer primary schools the knowledge of our experts, experts from LEA Spodnje Podravje and teachers from the Electrical and Computer High School Ptuj, as part of the 2018 Call for Cost Reimbursement for Educational Projects in the Field of RES and URE for Youth, announced by BORZEN, and to raise awareness among primary school students about the field of RES and URE.

Four elementary schools responded to our invitation. So, we are now implementing the project activities from September to December 2018. We prepared the activities for them as part of the Technical Day.

The Technical Day is held at the MIC ŠC Ptuj. The Technical Day consists of 2 parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, we introduce them to RES and URE using a PowerPoint presentation. In this part, students are introduced to existing and new upcoming energy technologies, various options for using renewable energy sources and the principles of efficient energy use. Elementary school students are introduced to various options for obtaining energy from renewable sources (wood biomass, biogas plants, wind, sun, environment, etc.), their advantages and disadvantages and what are the potentials for using these sources in our area.

Students also see a demonstration of how a heat pump works and learn about different types of solar collectors and how they work. We also prepared worksheets for them to evaluate this part of the day.

The second part is the practical part. Primary school students use didactic teaching aids based on solar and wind energy. The aids are in the form of modular parts that are assembled into a structure. In doing so, they practice their mental and motor skills and abilities. Once the structure is assembled, we also test it, where we jointly determine the effects of solar and wind energy. We use various aids to help us with this. For solar energy, a reflector is used if necessary, and for wind energy, a hair dryer.
