SMART-MED-PARKS
Improvement of Energy Efficiency in Technology Parks of the Med Area through Intelligent Models and Uses (MED Program – 2013-2015).
SMART-MED-PARKS is a pilot project aimed at introducing smart grids into science and technology parks (STPs). The aim of the project is to increase the energy efficiency of STPs and contribute to the creation of self-sufficiency and the introduction of a model of sustainable energy production and consumption through the smart grid concept.
Science and technology parks are largely areas of concentration of people, information, economic flows and consequently also transport. That is why we focused on it in the project, as it is problematic both in terms of energy consumption and environmental pollution. According to EUROSTAT data from 2011, in Europe we use 365 TWh of energy for transport (in general) and emit 1,201 Mt CO2 into the atmosphere.
The goal of the SMART-MED-PARKS project is to develop an intelligent energy management model based on energy efficiency; energy self-sufficiency of local energy and integration with existing energy networks. The solution contributes to the sustainable development of science and technology parks (ZTP) and to the creation of new energy management models based on reduced environmental impact, as well as on the promotion of innovations in technological and business processes.
