PROFORBIOMED
Promotion of residual biomass in the Mediterranean basin (MED Program – 2011-2014).
The main objective of the project is the promotion of renewable energy sources with an emphasis on wood biomass. Within the framework of the project, we developed integrated strategies for the use of biomass from forests (mainly sawmill residues) as a renewable energy source. With the project, we contributed to the development of the fundamental technical and legal aspects of the use of forest biomass (mainly sawmill residues) for energy production and ensured its promotion.
The project involved 18 partners from Italy, Greece, France, Spain, Portugal and Slovenia. As part of the project, the partners carried out an analysis of the availability of wood biomass and the possibilities of its use for heating in district heating systems and cogeneration of heat, electricity and cooling. LEA Ptuj is responsible for the efficient energy use of wood biomass for heating or cogeneration of heat, electricity and/or cooling.
