ZEROCO2 – additional funds to continue the decarbonization path!
Between 2016 and 2020, the Interreg Europe project ZEROCO2 defined nearly zero-emission buildings in terms of energy consumption. In doing so, the project partners presented a combination of different technologies and energy-efficient sources that, with the help of updated policies, would achieve the ambitious goal of reducing emissions in different types of buildings. ZEROCO2 also presented different financial methodologies for promoting such buildings.
Recently, the ZEROCO2 project received additional funding from the Interreg Europe programme to continue raising awareness and exchanging good practices in the field of decarbonisation of buildings. The extension of the project is therefore another step forward, aimed at achieving the decarbonisation goals and the so-called net zero policy, including the European Green Deal. Thus, within the project, we will address various policy instruments with the aim of optimising the allocated funds for renovation, with a focus on the full energy renovation of public and residential buildings.
The international consortium continues to work together to promote the use of the latest technologies to reduce emissions. Over the next 12 months, the ZEROCO2 project will continue to advance knowledge on energy efficiency in buildings, going beyond its original targets set in 2016 (the EU target of reducing emissions by 20 % by 2020). The ZEROCO2 project will continue to decouple economic growth from resource use and support the shift towards decarbonisation, increased use of renewable energy sources and the promotion of energy efficiency – this time on the path towards a net zero carbon economy by 2050.
