Regular inspections of air conditioning systems<\/h2>\n\n\n

In EU countries, energy needs in the buildings sector account for approximately 40% of total energy use. However, we expect that the share of energy for cooling and ventilation will increase, following a similar trend as in the rest of the world. Warmer summers result in higher energy use for air conditioning in buildings. In order to reduce the significant trend of increasing energy use due to air conditioning, innovative technologies and improvements in the energy efficiency of existing air conditioning systems are being implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the activities to ensure energy efficiency, regular inspections of air conditioning systems are also planned. Regular inspections of air conditioning systems in combination with an automation, control and energy consumption measurement system provide users with numerous advantages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 achieving favorable living and working conditions,
\u2022 optimal operation of devices,
\u2022 energy saving,
\u2022 repeatable and predictable process management,
\u2022 easier detection and elimination of errors,
\u2022 more efficient maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who must ensure regular inspection of the air conditioning system?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The taxpayer is the owner of a building or part of a building in which an air conditioning system with a nominal output power of over 12 kW is installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the obligations of the taxpayer?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The taxpayer must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • keep documentation on performed air conditioning system inspections for at least 10 years,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • keep documentation on servicing and maintenance for at least 5 years,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • To carry out an inspection of the air conditioning system, ensure access to the air conditioning system and the air-conditioned spaces connected to it,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • In the event of a change in ownership of the air conditioning system, hand over the documentation to the new liable party.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Regular inspections of air conditioning systems<\/h2>\n\n

    The purpose of a regular inspection of air conditioning systems is to prepare proposals for increasing the energy efficiency of the system or its replacement. The inspection of the air conditioning system must include: inventory and review of documentation, visual and functional inspection of the air conditioning system and air-conditioned spaces, preparation of improvement proposals and preparation of an inspection report. Regular inspection of the air conditioning system is mandatory every 5 years according to our legislation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    When is an inspection not mandatory?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The regulations define some exceptions for which inspection is not mandatory. Thus, the regulations do not apply to air conditioning systems:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • in industrial buildings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • in non-residential agricultural buildings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • in buildings for religious ceremonies,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • in temporary buildings with an expected use time of two years or less,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • in residential buildings intended for use for less than four months per year,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • that operate less than 150 hours per year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
