The European Commission highlights the need to support small and remote communities in Europe in achieving decarbonisation targets by 2030. Key steps include tailored financial incentives, knowledge sharing and capacity building for local communities.
The LOCAL GoGREEN project is designed with this very purpose – to empower local authorities in accelerating the Clean Energy Transition (CET). Through an innovative bottom-up approach, municipalities in Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy and Spain will receive support for Integrated Climate and Energy Planning (ICEP) tailored to their specific needs.
Through guidance and exchange of best practices, the project will improve cooperation between public and private stakeholders and ensure effective implementation of measures at the local level.
Project objective: Strengthening the capacity of six small rural municipalities to implement and monitor ambitious energy and climate plans.
Five key priority areas:
- E-mobility – promoting sustainable transport solutions
- Energy efficiency of buildings – reducing energy consumption
- Renewable energy sources – increasing local RES production
- Landscape planning – increased carbon absorption
- Energy from waste – sustainable resource management
Project partners: - LEA Spodnje Podravje, Slovenia (lead partner)
- Aberon, Bulgaria
- Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), Italy
- Enerkon doo, Croatia
- Elfi Tech, Germany
- JER, Dr. Jakob ENERGY RESEARCH GMBH & CO. KG, Germany
