DETOCS

Presentation of the Interreg Europe DETOCS project

The recently approved Interreg Europe DETOCS project aims to sustainably rebuild infrastructure in the tourism sector after the Covid-19 pandemic and reduce its carbon footprint. As part of the project, partner regions in Slovenia, Greece, Malta, Finland, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary and the Netherlands will identify and exchange good practices in sustainable tourism. Project partners will work to improve policies and policy instruments in their regions by developing capacities in the participating regions and by using policies that have already proven successful in other regions.

The objectives of the DETOCS project are:

  • Facilitate the decarbonization of tourism infrastructure;
  • Increase the energy efficiency of tourism infrastructure;
  • Increase the energy self-sufficiency of the tourism sector;
  • Promote new and innovative forms of tourism with low energy consumption and carbon footprint (e.g. “virtual tourism”);
  • Help regions deal with the current energy crisis, which is increasing the share of energy costs in their total operating costs and threatening their profitability and economic sustainability.

The lead partner of the DETOCS project is the local energy agency of Spodnje Podravje.

Project duration: 1.3.2023 – 31.5.2027
Total project budget: €1,980,883.00, of which €1,567,416.40 is provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
LEA Spodnje Podravje funds: EUR 194,640.00 of ERDF funds
